Canowindra Ballooning promotes sport and recreational ballooning and we are also active in competition ballooning. Canowindra is one of the best places in the world to fly balloons.
Canowindra had its first experience of hot air ballooning in the early 1970's. However it was not until 1979 with the establishment of Canowindra Ballooning instructional weekends that ballooning became a regular feature of the landscape. These weekends were based at "The Balloonery", a ballooning lodge converted from an old Mill in the centre of town.
Canowindra Ballooning now focuses on promoting sport and recreational ballooning and we are also active in competition ballooning. Our three former balloons – Vision Splendid, Solaris and Solaria together with our current balloon Volare are all well known in the area and across Australia.
Canowindra is one of the best places in the world to fly and we hope balloonists from around the world will continue to join us in the skies over Canowindra and enjoy the wonderful country hospitality and attractions the area has to offer.
